Henry Walterscheid

Henry Walterscheid, 78, of Tidwell Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 13, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, January 17, 2011 , 1:30 PM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Cyprian Uline, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Henry Walterscheid was born April 3, 1932 in Carlsbad, NM to William and Helen (Rhinehart) Walterscheid. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1950. Henry married Delores Klein on April 19, 1952 in Carlsbad. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1954 where he served two years. Henry returned home and began his farming career. He was known for his story telling of jokes. Henry enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ray Walterscheid; grandson, Chad Porter; two twin great-granddaughters, Avelan and Ashlee Janke; three sisters and five brothers. Survivors include his wife, Delores Walterscheid of Carlsbad; two daughters: Belinda Michel and husband, Jim of Amarillo, TX, Becky Porter and husband, Don of Amarillo, TX; two sons: Ronnie Walterscheid and wife, Sheila of Carlsbad, NM, Phillip Walterscheid and wife, Melissa of Carlsbad, NM; daughter-in-law, Ruthi Walterscheid Corazzi of Carlsbad, NM; nine grandchildren: Ryan, Krista, Mandy, Todd, Katie, Kimberlie, Matt, Wesley, Josh; nine great-grandchildren: Abbie, Mason, Kai, Aysen, Madeline, Gavin, Tripp, Blake, Austin; three sisters: Irene Douglas, Margaret Green, Patsy Baker; two brothers: Edward Walterscheid, Gene Walterscheid and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be Ryan Walterscheid, Matt Walterscheid, Wesley Walterscheid, Josh Walterscheid, Robby Walterscheid and Butch Walterscheid. Honorary pallbearer is Todd Porter.
