Helen S. Lawson, 85, of Alamosa Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Lakeview Christian Home. There will be no visitation; cremation will take place. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2014, 11:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Helen S. Lawson was born June 1, 1929 in Strawn, Texas to Joe and Lillie (Garcin) Supina. Her family moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1945. On November 27, 1957, Helen married Douglas Lawson. For more than 30 years, she worked at Carlsbad National Bank as a proofing operator. After retirement, Helen continued to work at Western Commerce Bank. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed picnicking. She always took care of her family and loved cooking for them. She was a loving, caring and generous lady who put others needs before her own. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Douglas Lawson in 2006 and granddaughter, Lacy Lawson. Survivors are her sons: Mike Lawson and wife, Gerri of Carlsbad, NM, Billy Lawson and wife, Kena of Midland, Texas, Alan Lawson and wife, Debbie of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Joey Lawson and wife, Darlene, Tyler Lawson, Taylor Lawson, Dana Ferris, Britt Bradford, Ryan Mireles; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Blanche M. Tidwell and husband, Leroy of Indianapolis, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews Memorial contributions may be made to Jonah's Food Pantry, 512 W.
