Helen was born in Clayton, New Mexico June 10, 1920 to Albert and Bertha Gibson. Helen's family moved to San Diego, California, in 1920, where her father drove a street car and bus in east San Diego until his death in 1954. Helen met George Hatch in 1936 and they married shortly thereafter. George worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in San Diego for 36 years. Helen and George had their first son, George Jr., in 1938 and second son Rick in 1943. George Jr. had a 32 year career at Coca-Cola Bottling Company in San Diego. Rick served three tours in Vietnam with the Marine Corps, from 1962 to 1974 and he married Janet Carbary, in 2003. Rick and Janet moved to Carlsbad in 2004 where Janet serves as CEO at the Carlsbad Medical Center.
After the passing of Helen's first husband, George, in 1967; Helen met her second husband, "Don" Bonnett. They lived in Kaneohe, Hawaii, until his passing in 2006.
Helen was brought to Carlsbad in December 2006 by Rick and Janet to live at the "newly opened" Beehive Homes. In 2007 she bought a nice home in Riverbend, where she enjoyed new friends, religious involvement, many Senior Circle activities, family, fun, a small dog as a companion and loving life to its fullest.
Helen will be greatly missed by all; especially by Janet, who became Helen's "wished for" daughter and who cared for Helen during her recent illnesses. Helen truly believed that this life was just the beginning and she is now in the new, loving and sharing hereafter.
We love you mom! Your son, Rick.
She is survived by her son, Rick Hatch and wife, Janet Carbary of Carlsbad, NM. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, George E. Hatch, Sr and son, George E. Hatch, Jr.
