Helen McGee Duncan, 89, of W. Church Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, July 11, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 12, 2016, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Helen McGee Duncan was born March 2, 1927 in Peoria, Texas to W.O. and Alma (Bledsoe) Falkner. She married J.D. McGee February 2, 1942. They moved to Carlsbad so that J.D. could go to work in the potash mines. J.D. passed away in 1977. Later that year, Helen married Oscar J. Duncan. She loved children and babysat for many years. Helen was affectionately known as "Mamaw" to numerous children around town. She was a long time member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church and more recently Hillcrest Baptist Church. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.D. McGee; husband, Oscar J. Duncan in 1996; grandson, Anthony McGee and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors are her children: Glenda Lamere and husband, Dennis, James Darrell McGee and wife, Karen, Cherryle McGee; grandchildren: Stephanie and husband, Brian, Matthew and wife, Lori, James, Jr. and wife, Stacey, Michelle and husband, Curtis; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, James Falkner and numerous nieces and nephews.
