Hazel Cooper Tackett, 94, of Rosedale Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 7, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 10, 2010, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Hazel Cooper Tackett was born December 29, 1915 in Hot Springs County, Arkansas to Daley and Louella (Ketchum) Cooper. She graduated from Amity High School in Amity, Arkansas in 1934. Hazel married George W. Tackett on June 20, 1936 in Glenwood, Arkansas and they moved to Carlsbad the following year. Hazel worked for Carlsbad Municipal Schools as a cafeteria worker. She also worked as a sales clerk in several retail stores including Wackers, Fabrific Fabrics and Gibson's. Hazel loved to crochet and was an excellent seamstress. She was also known for her amazing roasted pecans. Hazel wrote a book of her childhood memories in the Cooper family. She was a member of the Fox and Lake Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George W. Tackett; brothers: Victor Cooper, Isaac Cooper, Marley Cooper and a sister, Grace Cooper.
Survivors are her daughter, Marilyn Tackett of Carlsbad, NM; two sons: Glenn Tackett of Carlsbad, NM, David Tackett and wife, Machell of Carlsbad, NM, four grandchildren: Stephanie Tackett, Kevin Tackett, Tawny Tackett and husband, Brandon Newton, Natisha Tackett; brother, Roy Cecil Cooper of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Roy Cooper, Joe Griffin, Gene Haggerton, Jim Garner, Terry Nelson and Terry Morrow. Honorary Pallbearers are RN's and CNA's at Lakeview Christain Home and Lakeview Christian Home Hospice.
