Haskel G. "Pee Wee" Kiser, 79, of N. Elm, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 18, 2009 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be Monday, September 21, 2009, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2009, 2:00 PM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Chap. Terry McKean officiating. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Haskel G. "Pee Wee" Kiser was born May 1, 1930 in Mead Oklahoma to Claud Franklin and Maggie Mae (Taylor) Kiser. He graduated high school in Mead, Oklahoma, moved to Carlsbad and worked for U.S. Potash. He was drafted into the US Army during the Korean conflict serving 2 years, returned to Carlsbad and married Melba Jean Green on August 26, 1954. He then returned to his job at U.S. Potash/IMC, until he opened his own service station "Pee Wee's Fina" located on Mermod Street; he operated it for 22 years. His hobbies included camping, fishing, motorcycles and CB and short wave radio operator, his call sign "dipstick". He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Melba in April 2009, 8 brothers and sisters. Survivors include one son: Perry D. Kiser and wife, Suzanne of Carlsbad, NM; two grandsons: Brandon Kiser and Bret Kiser both of Carlsbad, NM; two brothers: Paskel Dean "P.D." Kiser and wife, Nellie of Davis, OK and C.F. Kiser and wife, Mollie of Calera, OK. Pallbearers will be Brandon Kiser, Bret Kiser, Jon Hardin, Warren Hardin, Mike Martinez, Billy Melton and Jaime Medrano.
