Harold R. Adkins

Harold R. Adkins, 67, of N. Ash St., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away April 15, 2011 at his home. Per his wishes cremation will take place and no formal services will be held. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Harold R. Adkins was born August 27, 1943 in Abraham, West Virginia to Earles and Ann Adkins. He married Bonnie Long in 1981. They moved to Carlsbad in October 2004 following their retirement and both have enjoyed the new friends that have enriched their lives. His family was very proud of his 32 years of sobriety and the work he did to help others. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Lou. Survivors include spouse Bonnie Adkins of Carlsbad; sons Dwayne Adkins of Cleveland, OH, Scott Adkins and wife, Holly of Avon, OH and Harold Ray Adkins, Jr. of Cleveland, OH: step-son; James Long and wife, Lisa of Vancouver, WA: step-daughter; Marci Long of Washington State; 5 grandchildren: sisters: Ruth Smith and husband, Larry of Beckley, WV and Pearl Richmond and husband, Wesley of Beckley, WV; brothers; Edsel Adkins and wife, Betty of Cleveland, OH and Keith Adkins and wife, Libby of Beckley, WV; sisters: Carol Williams and husband, Ron of Beckley, WV and Grethel Lester of Helen, WV and special niece Sandra Richmond.
