Gustavo N. Franco, 82, of Del Rio Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 23, 2009 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Vigil services are scheduled for Sunday, December 27, 2009, 7:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, December 28, 2009, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 De Baca, with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gustavo N. Franco was born May 9, 1927 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Filiberto and Rafaela (Navarrette) Franco. He was preceded in death by his brother, Filiberto Franco, Jr. Survivors include three sisters: Elvira Franco of Carlsbad, NM, Elisa Gomez and husband, Anasticio of Carlsbad, NM Micaela Garcia of Denver, Colorado; four brothers: Lorenzo Franco and wife, Mari Eugenia of El Paso, TX, Trinidad Franco of Acapulco, Mexico, Socorro Franco and wife, Lucila of Chihuahua, Mexico and Dolores (Lolo) Franco and wife, Ophelia of El Paso, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and primary caregiver, JoAnn Vela of Carlsbad, NM.
