Gumersida "Sandy" N. Romero

Obituary Gumersinda Sandy N. Romero, 83, of Virginia Streat Lake Arthur, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral services are scheduled at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lake Arthur, New Mexico with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Following, burial will be at Lake Arthur Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers; nieces and nephews. Gumersinda was born on January 13, 1937, in Ft. Quitman, Texas to Remundo and Anita (Aragon) Nunez. She was a lifelong resident of the small town of Lake Arthur, New Mexico. On June 11, 1960, she married Ignacio Romero in Lake Arthur, New Mexico at Our Lady Guadalupe Church. Working for the Levi Strauss Company most of the 70s, she spent her later years being an amazing homemaker. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Cursillistas. She was preceded in death by her husband Ignacio Romero; son, Reginaldo Romero; parents Remundo and Anita Nunez; in-laws, Eligio and Olympia Romero; sister and brother-in-law, Delfina and Calistro Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Lucille Romero; and daughter-in-law, Mary Romero. Survivors include sons: Jose Mario and Adam John of the Home. Ignacio Romero Jr. and wife Selina of Las Cruces. Vernardo Romero of Lake Arthur. Daughters: Teresa Romero of the Home. Anita Munoz and husband Cruz of Artesia. Patricia Romero of Lake Arthur. Sister-in-laws; Tilia Leal, Marie Peralta, Lupe Cota. Brother-in-law Jose Vivian Romero. Numerous nieces and nephews. She was blessed with six granddaughters, six grandsons, one great-grand daughter, Amethyst Rose, and one great-grand son, Samuel Santiago.
