Guadalupe Gutierrez Escareo, 77, former resident of Carlsbad, passed away Monday, June 11, 2013, in Lubbock, Texas Visitation will be 3:00 PM - vigil, Sunday, June 16, 2013, at San Jose Catholic Church. A vigil is scheduled for Sunday, June 16, 2013, 7:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2013, 2:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Guadalupe Gutierrez Escareo was born on December 29, 1935, in McCamey, Texas to Julian and Luz (Carreon) Gutierrez. She married Lauro Escareo June 13, 1949. Lupe worked at Dairy Queen South for many years as a cook. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Legion at San Jose. Lupe loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and she will be dearly missed by them. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lauro Escareo; three great-grandchildren; brother, Luis Lopez; and sister, Gabina Moreno. Survivors are her sons: Johnny Escareo, Dennis Escareo, Samuel Escareo; daughters: JoAnn Lara, Matilda Quintala, Barbara Reed, Lucia Escareo, Patsy Lara, Guadalupe Escareo, Mary Ann Sosa, Lisa Escareo; 106 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Garcia Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
