Granville “Barney” Barnes, 79, of Fayetteville, North Carolina passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021. Granville was born November 6, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas to Warren and Olie Barnes.
Granville had a strong Christian faith, dedicating his life to the sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ. He went to the Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, OK, and spent his life ministering to others. He also worked for many years as a custodian for the Carlsbad Municipal School District. Granville married the love of his life on May 25, 1963, in West Virginia. He enjoyed fishing, reading books, and most of all spending time with his family. Granville’s legacy will live on in his wife, children and grandchildren and he will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Granville was preceded in death by his father, Warren Barnes; mother, Olie (Epps) Barnes; and brother, Warren Gerald Barnes.
Granville is survived by his wife, Frances Ann Barnes of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Selena Farmer and husband, Kevin of Carlsbad, NM; two grandchildren: Rhylea Farmer and Cylas Farmer both of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Edith Reese and husband, Gene Reese of Carlsbad, NM; sister-in-law, Mary Barnes of Carlsbad, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Day Spring Fellowship. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
