Gloria A. Martinez

Gloria A. Martinez, 78, of Townview Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 at her home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday, August 5, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gloria was born August 23, 1945 in Sierra Blanca, Texas to Nacienceno and Guadalupe (Jordan) Aragon. She attended school in Loving and later Carlsbad. Gloria married Cruz Martinez August of 1980. She worked as a cook for Carlsbad Municipal Schools for many years. Gloria was known for her excellent cooking. She enjoyed embroidery and crossword puzzles. Gloria cherished the time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s ballgames. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Angel, Nacienceno, Emilio, and Robert Aragon; sisters: Mary Murray and Flora Chavez.

Survivors are her husband, Cruz E. Martinez, Sr.; children: Joe Allen Ramirez and wife, Linda, MaryAnn Granger and husband, Edmund, Cruz Martinez, Jr., Dorothy Ramirez, Vic Martinez, Misty Martinez, and Desari Yanez and husband, Desiderio; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Elouisa Munoz and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Cruz Martinez, Jr., Joe Allen Ramirez, Vic Martinez, Nicholas Galvan, Edmund Granger, and Desiderio Yanez. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.
