Gloria Ann Maley, 88, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2013,at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2013, 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Randy C. Land and Kevin Pence, Associate Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gloria Ann Maley was born on January 24, 1925, in Ada, Oklahoma to Ralph E. and Lillian Dale (Bond) Sparks. At an early age Gloria's family moved to Boise City, Oklahoma where she attended first grade. Her family later moved to Tieband to homestead with family. Gloria graduated high school from Portales, NM and attended college at Eastern New Mexico University. After her kids graduated high school, she worked various jobs, including the Best Western in White's City, Ropers Drapery in Carlsbad and the Drug Store and Save Stop Warehouse in Amarillo. In 1984, Gloria retired and moved back to Carlsbad, NM. She was a faithful and long-time member of First Baptist Church. For several years, Gloria worked with the Juvenile Ministry and the Phone Ministry. You could always count on getting a call from her. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathi Maley; sister, Cherry Wiggins and brother, "Sparky" Sparks. Survivors are her sons: David Maley and wife, LaVerne of Carlsbad, NM and Gary Maley of Carlsbad, NM; two grandchildren: Jason Maley and wife, Cate and Jeffrey Maley and wife, Kristy; two great-grandchildren: Bryce Maley and Blake Maley. Pallbearers will be Jason Maley, Cate Maley, Jeffrey Maley, Kristy Maley, Ruben Ramirez and Ron Singleton. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
