Gloria Jean Hernandez Lopez was born March 2, 1958 to Tomas M. Hernandez, Jr. and Refugia M. Hernandez in Carlsbad, NM. Gloria passed away January 7, 2022 in Carlsbad, NM. Gloria attended school in Pecos, Texas and Carlsbad, NM, graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1976. She worked for the Current Argus before becoming a teacher’s aide and homebound teacher for many years. Gloria then began working at CARC, which she loved, and was employed for over 20 years. She enjoyed baking, cooking, shopping, but most of all, Gloria loved spending time with her three children and her grandchildren. She enjoyed her lunch outings with her best friends, Lilly and Carol. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents: Tomas and Refugia Hernandez; sister, Mary Frances Hernandez and extended family members. Survivors are her companion, John Lyden of Carlsbad, NM; three children: daughter, Cheyenne Calderon-Vera; sons: Miguel A. Molina, Jr. and wife, Tenille, Marvin R. Calderon, Jr. and wife, April M.; six grandchildren: Sierra Molina (Yaya), Miguel A. Molina, III (MeMe), Lexis Molina (Lexy Lou), Paciencia Calderon, Milagros Rubio (Milli Moo), Joe-Vanni Vera (Jo-Jo). Gloria was blessed with one beautiful great-granddaughter, Avaleya Lynn Molina (LaLa) along with four bonus grandchildren: Kiana Parham, Kandi Parham, Monique Methola, Tristian Methola; sister, Patsy Grantner and husband, Jim; nieces: Judi, Tonia and Michelle; nephew, Thomas; Gloria’s best friends who were more like sisters: Lilly and Carol.

This is not a goodbye – it’s a see you later, Momma. “We love you to the moon and back.”

There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. A vigil is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 20, 2022 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
