Obituary Gloria Jeanette Yeager Byram, 71, of Carlsbad NM went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday January 3, 2019. Gloria was born in Carlsbad to John Henry & Vivian Marcella Mahaffey-Yeager on March 21, 1947. She was the second of their 3 children. Gloria was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and her passing leaves an emptiness felt by all who knew her. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1966 and went on to study computer science at New Mexico State University of Carlsbad. During her lifetime she worked as a florist, teacher, secretary, and administrative assistant, but her all-time favorite and most cherished job was that of being a mother and grandmother which she did flawlessly up until her passing. After her children were grown, she went on to find her job home at Southeastern New Mexico Community Action Corp. She retired from her position there as administrative assistant of the senior citizen program in 2016 after many years of dedicated service. She loved the work she did with the senior citizens of her community but reluctantlyhad to retire due to poor health. Gloria was extremely talented in many areas and loved crafts of any sort. She loved painting, drawing and sketching, calligraphy, floral arranging in which she handled all the floral dcor for many friends and family members for weddings and specials occasions throughout her lifetime, and she was an amazing artist and card maker. She had a giant loving heart, and had a sweet kindness about her, a willingness to help all those around her that showed the world just what an amazing Christian woman she was. Gloria had an open door policy; if someone was hungry, in need or had no place to go then her door was always open to them. Many people found a home with her at one point or another through the years and from the moment you entered her door you wereautomatically her family and she would love you and treat you as such. Glorias weak spot was her grand and great grand babies. There was nothing she wouldnt do for them even if it meant putting herself out to do it. If they had a want or a need, she would do whatever it took to make it happen. Gloria was one of the most selfless and giving women you could ever meet. She had the ability to make you feel comfortable and welcome from the moment you met her. There was rarely a time when you weren't greeted with her big beautiful smile and a tight warm hug. In her loss the world is a little less joyful, a little less warm and there is an emptiness where her light once shown. She was proceeded in death by her parents, father John Henry (Jack) Yeager, and mother Vivian Marcella (Marcy) Mahaffey-Yeager, her brother Homer Anthony (Tony) Yeager and grandson Cody Chase Horton. She is survived by her sister Kitty Thompson Yeager, her two adoring daughters and their families: Jacy Jones and husband, Robert of Phoenix, Arizona, Sandy Boyd and husband, Jesse of Carlsbad New Mexico; grandchildren Tenisha, Shady, Stoney, Sunny, all of Carlsbad New Mexico; great-grandchildren: Echo, Laithan, Tempi, Aspen and Everett, all of Carlsbad, NM. Cremation has taken place and there will be no public viewing held. A Celebration of Life Service will take place Saturday,January 12, 2019, 11:00 AM at Fox and Lake Church of Christ, 708 W Fox St, Carlsbad New Mexico, with Jerry Thompson & Marcy Ward officiating.
