Gladys L. Wallen, 91, of Colonial Court, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at Carlsbad Medical Center.There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2016, 2:00 PM, at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Brad Coates officiating.

Gladys L. Wallen was born March 16, 1925 in Neligh, Nebraska to Claude Fielding and Charlotte (Hutto) Sutherland and moved to Redlands, California with her parents at the age of four. After graduating, she attended Pacific Bible Seminary and Biola Bible College. Gladys married Herman H. Wallen July 8, 1945 in Redlands. In 1961, they moved to Carlsbad where Doc opened Wallen Chiropractic and Gladys was office manager for 20 years. She was an active member of First Assembly of God Church and Christian Women's Club. Gladys taught bible studies and marriage seminars many years and worked in child evangilism "Good News" clubs over 25 years. In 1996, she traveled to Russia with Doc to teach marriage seminars. Gladys' hobbies included bible studies, teaching, crafts and she was a collector. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.
Survivors are her husband, Dr. Herman "Doc" H. Wallen of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Donna Anderson and husband, Rev. William Anderson of Queen Creek, Arizona; son, Dr. Stephen L. Wallen and wife, Elaine of Carlsbad, NM; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Ron Sutherland; sisters: Janice Holt, Joanna Oldham and numerous nieces and nephews.
