Obituary Gilbert Slick Nava, Jr., 60, of L Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gilbert was born April 12, 1957 in Carlsbad, NM to Gilbert S. and Juanita (Carnero) Nava, Sr. He enjoyed spending time with his family and actively supported his daughter in softball. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Juanita Nava; sister, Olga Garcia and brother, Hector Nava. Survivors are his daughters: Lisa Nava and Gabriel Ortega of Carlsbad, NM, Natalie Nava and Vanessa Nava, both of Albuquerque, NM; 4 grandchildren; sisters: Rosie Castillo of Jal, NM, Sylvia Acevedo, Lina Nava, Cristina Nava, Mona Lara and Gina Nava, all of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
