Geraldine Dennis

Geraldine Dennis, 92, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 10, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Geraldine Dennis was born December 20, 1919 in Clovis, NM to Jessie Kennel and Eartie Loma (Bryan) Standefer. She graduated from Clovis High School and received a certificate from Beauty College in Portales, NM. Geraldine worked as a hairdresser for three years. She married Jerald F. Dennis on February 22, 1941 in Clovis, NM. After marrying, they moved to Oklahoma City where her husband was stationed. While her husband was deployed, she and her family lived in Ft. Sumner. When Jerald returned they moved to Clovis, NM and then to Carlsbad in 1949. She as a past Elk Doe member. Geraldine worked for Carlsbad Municipal Schools as a food service manager for 29 years. She raised her family and enjoyed yard work, planting flowers, crocheting, baking bread and taking loaves to friends. She and her sister attended Twin Conferences in Twinsburg, Ohio and Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerald F. Dennis in 1989; and identical twin sister, Maxine Mitchell. She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Hall and husband, Bill of Summerville, SC, Shirley York and husband, Gary of Carlsbad, NM; four grandchildren: Wesley Hall and wife, Laura of Ladson, SC, Kimberly Cote and husband, Joey of Summerville, SC, Dennis York and wife, Katie of Carlsbad, NM, Keith York of Carlsbad, NM; 11 great-grandchildren: Amber Hall, Jenna Cheatham, Kylie Cheatham, Elizabeth Hall, Kinsey Cote, Jojo Cote, Lindsey Enloe, Ashley York, Matthew York, Samantha York and Gavin York; three great-great-grandchildren: Brayden Enloe, Nathan Gonzales, Devon Bell. Pallbearers will be Dennis York, Keith York, Matthew Enloe, Josh Bell, Nathan Gonzales, Don York. Honorary pallbearers are Wesley Hall and Joey Cote.
