Georgia Pelaiz Morton was born on November 17, 1934, in Artesia, NM to Paz and Juanita (Montoya) Pelaiz. She married James D. Morton on June 20, 1953 here in Carlsbad. Georgia worked at Head Start and What-a-Burger for many years and later went to work for Furrs Bakery where she worked over 20 years and often shared fond memories. Georgia and Jimmy took great pride in serving as the caretakers of IMC-Willow Lake for over 15 years. No one ever left Georgia's home hungry, she showed her love through her wonderful cooking. Her family was her life. Georgia took care of her mother during her years of battling Alzheimer's and in turn Georgia's family considered it a privilege to care for her during her own battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James D. Morton; and nephew, Luis Castillo. "Thank you just doesn't seem enough to express my gratitude for all you've done. It doesn't seem enough to say, "What would I do without you?" It doesn't seem like enough of an exchange for all you've given me. But that's the most amazing part...you give of yourself expecting nothing in return. I wish there were words to express how much I appreciate all you've done - how much I appreciate you. But there are no words, except two small ones that come directly from my heart...thank you!" We love you, mom. Survivors are her children: Robert Morton and wife, Rose, Teresa Navarrette and husband, Frank, Gina Andrews and husband, Craig, all of Carlsbad, NM, and James Morton and wife, Juanita of Maricopa, Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Barron of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Robert Morton, Robert Morton, Jr., James Morton, Jr., Frank Navarrette, Craig Andrews, Edwin Colon, Michael Cobb, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Zachery Andrews and Roman Andrews. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 9500 Montgomery Boulevard NE, Suite 121, Albuquerque, NM 87111 Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
