Genaro "Jerry" Hernandez, Jr., 32, of North Maple Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Sunday, June 22, 2014, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, June 23, 2014, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Genaro "Jerry" Hernandez, Jr. was born February 5, 1982, in El Paso, Texas to Genaro and Hortensia (Martinez) Hernandez, Sr. He spent his life doing what he loved and being surrounded by people that loved him. Jerry devoted his life to being the best father for his son. He loved making people laugh and having a good time. Jerry spent most of his free time outdoors with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Francisca Martinez. Survivors are his parents: Genaro and Hortensia Hernandez, Sr. of Carlsbad, NM; son, Jerry Daniel Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Frances Hernandez of Las Cruces, NM, Jessica Kraus and husband, Mark of California; maternal grandfather: Jesus Martinez of El Paso, Texas; paternal-grandparents: Jose Angel and Felicidad Hernandez of El Paso, Texas; several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Pallbearers will be Sammy Oroz, Samona DeLaCruz, Luis Cabello, Eric Florez, Joseph Rodriguez and Francisco Tamayo. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
