Gary William Wells, 75, past resident of Carlsbad passed away August 28, 2023 at Texas Health Harris Hospital Southwest Fort Worth.
The visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Monday, September 11, 2023 at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas followed by gathering for Masonic Rites and final words beginning at 7:30 PM. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas.
Gary was born December 6, 1947 in Carlsbad New Mexico to Clarence William Wells and Hauldes Oleen Wray Wells. He attended Carlsbad Senior High School and graduated in 1966. Gary was a Vietnam Combat Veteran and served with the 242nd Assault Support Helicopter Company. After returning to the from Vietnam he was assigned to the 1st Armored Division Band as a trumpeter. He returned to Carlsbad after his enlistment where he worked for National Potash and started Roadrunner Advertising Agency. In the 80’s he moved to Fort Worth where he lived until his death. While in Fort Worth he held several jobs including: variety of sales positions, musician, welder, millwright, F-16 aircraft assembly at Lockheed Martin and his own advertising and promotional products business. Gary was a Master Mason raised at Ridglea, Lodge 1341 where he served as the Worshipful Master. He also belonged to the Moose Lodge and VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley Sue Hayden Wells; brother, Cameron Lynn Wells, his wife Deana Wells of Carlsbad; daughter, Evonne Laurette “Laurie” Wells Hair her husband, Hubert Louis Hair, and her son David Paul “DJ” Ford; son Eric William Wells, his son Garrett William Wells, his daughter Emily Ellen Wells; nieces: Camie Lynn Wells, Carlie Dean Wells, Jill Crandall and husbad, Travis, and Joy Massey and husband, Joel; stepson, Les Dean Rutherford
