Gary Wayne Jewel

Gary Wayne Jewel, 64, of S. 4th Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away July 30, 2024, at Carlsbad Medical Center. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, August 5, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.

Wayne was born September 18, 1959, in Statesboro, Georgia, to Henry and Louise (Kendricks) Jewel. He served in the Army National Guard and later in the U.S. Army. Wayne married Shelley Hobbs August 31, 1984 in El Paso, Texas. After his service in the military, they moved to Raton, NM. In 1997, Wayne and Shelley relocated to Carlsbad. He enjoyed painting and worked as a painter for many years. Wayne was an avid fisherman and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Amanda Jewel.

Survivors are his wife, Shelley Jewel; daughter, Stiffany Jewel; sister, Cynthia Marquez; nieces: Karen Marquez and Shannon Marquez, and nephew, Ernest Marquez.
