Gary Steven Carver, 60, passed away of a heart attack on October 3, 2013, in Carlsbad New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Gary was born in Bryan, Ohio on February 23, 1953. He graduated from Kenai Central High School, in Kenai Alaska and continued on to receive a college education at the University of Fairbanks, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Gary was enlisted in the military, worked as an EMT/Firefighter, taught firearms training, and retired after several years in law enforcement for the U.S. Park Service. Gary's passion was working with firearms. He was able to fulfill this obsession by working at Courtesy Sporting and Pawn in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Gary was an avid gun collector and reader. He loved spending time outside shooting, walking and hiking. Gary was proud to be a life time member of the NRA. He was devoted to his dog Shasta who has found a new loving home with Gary's friend from the pawn shop. Gary is survived by his sister Jill Manon, her spouse Jerry Manon, and their children:Michelle, Jason, and Travis, Brother Jack Carver and his spouse Nancy Carver, and their children Cody, Ashley and Ashley's son Gage Gary Limon. Sasha, Zane, TJ, Taylor and Mac Fallon and cousins: Sky, Patrick and Erin Carver, Dawn, Larry, Felicity, April and Justin Powers. Gary had met many friends throughout his travels that were considered his extended family. Gary is preceded in death by his father Kenny Carver and his dog Tikka and cat Jojo.
