Gabriel Anthony Madrid, 33, of North 9th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at his home. Visitation will be 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, March 1, 2013, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2013, 1:30 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gabriel Anthony Madrid was born October 29, 1979 in Carlsbad, NM to Octavio "Toby" and Alicia (Martinez) Madrid, Jr. He loved to watch The Price Is Right, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Gabriel was an avid Dallas Cowboy and LA Dodgers fan. He loved for his mother to sing and dance for him. Gabriel enjoyed reading books and magazines. He was preceded in death by his father, Octavio "Toby" Madrid, Jr.; paternal grandfather, Octavio Madrid, Sr. and paternal grandmother, Manuela Madrid. Survivors are his mother, Alicia Madrid of Carlsbad, NM; two brothers: Michael John Madrid of Houston, Texas, Stephen Ray Madrid of Carlsbad, NM; maternal grandparents: Lorenzo and Dominga Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; Godparents, Joe and Ida Navarrette of Carlsbad, NM and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family. Pallbearers will be Kenny Sapien, Ryan Lee Echavarria, Johnny Joe Madrid, Ashley Danielle Echavarria, Mariah P. Martinez and Jillian Sandate. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
