Gabriel "Gabe" Ortega

Obituary Gabriel Gabe Ortega, 35, of North Second Street Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Gabriel was born on July 12, 1984, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Fred and Gloria Ortega. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of making arrangements. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home chapel, followed by a celebration of life service starting at 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Gabe Rubio. Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, December11, 2019, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will be at the new section of the Carlsbad Cemetery Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of making arrangements. Gabriel grew up here in Carlsbad, and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2003. He then started his career as a truck driver in the oilfield. Gabriel met the love of his life, Lisa Nava, and they started a family together having two beautiful daughters, Tristin and Brielle. Gabriel had special names for them, T-Bird and B-Dog, respectfully. He was a wonderful father, and would never miss one of his girls ball games; they were his world, and he loved spending time with them. Gabriel was an avid Buccaneers fan through and through, and loved his prized red truck. He was a loving and caring person, who will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Gabriel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tomas Pepo Martinez; grandmother, Gregoria Ortega; and cousin, Michael Martinez. Gabriel is survived by his two daughters, Tristin Ortega and Brielle Ortega of Carlsbad, NM; partner of fourteen years, Lisa Nava of Carlsbad, NM; parents, Fred and Gloria Ortega of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Freddy Ortega of Carlsbad, NM; two sisters, Valarie and Patricia Ortega of Carlsbad, NM; grandmother, Elfida Memo Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; aunt, Kathy Ortega and husband, Raul of Carlsbad, NM; aunt, Terrie Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; aunt, Norma Pompa and husband, Phillip of Carlsbad, NM; Uncle, Tommy Martinez and wife, Elva of Carlsbad, NM; uncle, Eddie Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; uncle, Gilbert Ortega and wife, Amelia of Carlsbad, NM; uncle Frankie Ortega of Bethany Oklahoma, OK; uncle, Eddie Ortega of Fort Worth, TX; aunt, Hilda Garcia of Carlsbad, NM; aunt, Gloria Navarette and husband, Mike of Carlsbad, NM; aunt, Olga Ortega of Las Cruces, NM; aunt, Else O.
