Freddie V. Prewitt, 72, of East Rose Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his home.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 8, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Veilleux officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Freddie V. Prewitt was born April 21, 1943 in Carlsbad, NM to T.V. and Melissa (Kelton) Prewitt. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1961. Freddie went to work in the potash mines where he worked until retiring. He had a passion for cars, especially Corvettes. Freddie was a dedicated Cavemen supporter. He served as a Caveman Dad and rarely missed a game. Freddie also never missed a Dallas Cowboys game and was a life member of B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #1558. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Dale Parrish, Sr. and Roy B. Laney.
Survivors are his sister, Barbara L. Laney of Carlsbad, NM; nieces: Gayle Waldrop, Melissa Laney and husband, Paul, Twila Mazur and husband, Randy; nephews: Dale Parrish and wife, Tina, Roger Parrish and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Dale Parrish, Roger Parrish, Michael Kinkade, Shawn Judah, Tyler Parrish and Todd Tindol. Honorary pallbearers are Don Eskins, Roger Greathouse, Van Nunley, John Mendes and Jimmy Fry.
