Fred K. (Pete) Yeoward entered rest Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, NM. The oldest of 5 boys, he was born December 12, 1931 in Sterling, IL to Fred G. and Dorothy Yeoward. He married Ethel I. Burtch July 1, 1961. They had 3 daughters: Victoria (Vickie) Foster and husband Steve of Cortland, IL; Susan Thompson and husband Ron of Alamogordo, NM; and Dorella (Dorie) Fannin and husband Eddy of Carlsbad, NM. He was grandfather to 14 and had numerous great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He helped his father run a welding shop in his hometown before moving to DeKalb, IL where he was a welder for many years. He enjoyed participating in bowling leagues and Barbershop Chorale as well as fishing. In 1981 he moved to Carlsbad, NM with his wife and youngest daughter. He retired from welding in 1983 but continued working various odd jobs around town before becoming a crossing guard at the new kindergarten school at Edison then moving with the school to ECEC where he stayed until he was no longer able to continue for health reasons. He was an active member of Central Christian Church and the Carlsbad Cavernaires. He was a resident of Landsun Homes since 2005. A memorial service will be held at Sunday, May 20, 2012, 2:00 P.M. at Central Christian Church, 305 Oak Street, Carlsbad, N.M.
