Don Chester, 75, of Airport Avenue, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM, Thursday, May 9, 2013 in the Relief Society Room at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Vance Jenkins, conducting. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Don Chester was born August 24, 1937 in Carlsbad, NM to John Ruben and Maggie Manervy (Brashear) Chester. He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to anyone. Don liked to tinker with lawnmowers and he was a builder. He was very involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaFonda Chester in 2011; five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his son, Tim Chester and wife, Crystal of Carlsbad, NM; granddaughter, Brooklynn Chester of Carlsbad, NM; grandson, Grant Chester of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Ted Chester and wife, Beverly of Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rusty Hennington, Donald Dean, Salty Hennington, Gary Chester, Dean Chester and Terry Chester. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
