Francisco "Frank" Ramirez

Francisco "Frank" Ramirez was born to Alonzo and Lupe Ramirez on September 21, 1941, in Van Horn, Texas. He passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Denton Wood Funeral Home. 

Frank grew up and attended school in Carlsbad, graduating in 1960. Shortly after graduating, he took a job in construction, operating heavy machinery and traveling around parts of Texas and New Mexico. On July 14, 1962, he married Minnie Granger. They were married for 59 years and had five children; Eileen Lujan, Frank Ramirez, Jr., Fred Ramirez, Steve Ramirez and Cristy Ramirez. 

He began a career in 1967 in potash mining that would span over 30 years underground, making countless belt moves, creating lasting friendships and earning the nickname "Chief". He eventually retired from Intrepid Potash in 2003. In December of 2013, and he decided to return to work, taking a job with Ramirez & Sons, Inc. as a Project Supervisor at their Artesia Plant. During his time there, he made many friends and loved being called "Uncle Frank" by those he worked closely with. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Minnie and sons Frank Ramirez, Jr. and Steve Ramirez. He is survived by his loving family and favorite fur baby, Luna. His laugh, sense of humor, knowledge and unconditional love will be dearly missed.
