Francisco "Chico" Grado

Obituary Francisco Chico Grado, 83, of West Mahone Drive Artesia, New Mexico went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at his home surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Francisco was born on June 22, 1937, in Redford, TX to Jose and Patricia Grado. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. A rosary is scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, October 8, 2020, at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Artesia, NM. A mass will follow starting at 10:30 AM. Francisco enjoyed being with his family, fishing, hunting and traveling. He was a prankster and loved spending time with his grandkids, making them laugh. All of his grandkids were very spoiled by him, and they each held a special place in his heart. Back in his younger days, Francisco was a cowboy, growing up in the Big Bend area, and found a joy for riding horses. Him and his wife enjoyed dancing and attending gatherings at the Artesia Senior Center. He also had a hobby for trucks and spoilers, his favorite being his el camino. Francisco had a heart of gold and would always do whatever he could do to help others. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Francisco was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; four brothers; two great-grandsons; and one granddaughter. Francisco is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Grado of Artesia, NM; children: Raul and Trini Grado of Hobbs, Abel and Catalina Grado of Artesia, Delfa and Fred Cruz of Artesia, Frankie and Cindy Grado of Artesia, Adolf and Carole Grado of Hobbs; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
