Frances W. Brown

Frances W. Brown, 81, of West Ural Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at her home. There will be no visitation, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, October 5, 2012, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Frances W. Brown was born August 15, 1931 in Artesia, NM to Bud and Frances (Nelson) Whitlock. She moved to Carlsbad as a young girl and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1948. Frances lived in California for a while and returned to Carlsbad in the 1950's. In 1970 she went to work for Merland Corp. where she retired after 33 years. Frances was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, daughter of the Nile and Assistance League. She also was a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary. Frances enjoyed playing Bridge, crafts, entertaining and visiting with people. She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren and sister, Vivian Danley. She is survived by two sons: Howard Brown and wife, Donna of Carlsbad, NM, Jim Brown and wife, Susan of Sandia Peak, NM; daughter, Dina Kay Bailey and husband, Randy of Carlsbad, NM; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Kietzmann of Palo Alto, CA; brother, Buddy Whitlock of Albuquerque, NM and several nieces and nephews.
