Frances Susannah Fuentes Torres

Frances Susannah Fuentes Torres, 44, of Coastal Dr, Bulverde, TX, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Brooke Army Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.  A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, Friday, March 24, 2023 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.  Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Frances was born July 7, 1978, in Carlsbad, NM to Frank & Sandy (Carrasco) Fuentes. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1997. She immediately joined the United States Air Force and began her journey as an airman where she would eventually go on to serve 20 years retiring as a Master Sergeant.

Frances’s extraordinary presence left an indelible mark on friends and family alike. She embodied unwavering faith to her god, boundless ambition to her education, creative flair with her art, clever resourcefulness, and selfless generosity to those around her. The distinctiveness of her laugh brought happiness to us all and was a testament to her spirited nature. 

She was an exemplary student in any subject that piqued her interest, as evidenced by her diverse educational achievements: an Associate of Applied Science in Information Management from the Community College of the Air Force, an Associate of Applied Science from ITT Technical Institute, a Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration from Ashford University, a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration from Southern New Hampshire University, and her Licensed Vocational Nursing Degree from Galen College of Nursing.

Above all, her greatest accomplishments were her two beautiful children, Xiaja & Andrew.  She loved being a wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt & a friend to all. She pushed us to be our absolute best, and she was able to see the special gifts that each of us had, even if we could not see it in ourselves. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Sandy Carrasco & sister Nancy Hobby.

She is survived by her husband Roger Torres; father Frank Fuentes Sr & wife Maria; her two beautiful and courageous children Xiaja Huff & Andrew Fuentes; sister Lisa & husband Scott Lamaster, niece Melanie Fuentes & partner Scotty Lamaster & son Eli; nephew Christian Brown and daughter Audrey; nephew Kaleb & wife Elayna Brown; niece Anna Bridenbaugh; brother Frank Jr & Wife Katy Fuentes; nephew Jake Fuentes; niece Bella Fuentes; nephew Jordan Hobby-Fuentes & daughter Allison; nephew Nehemiah Hobby & partner Esmeralda & son Giovanni; step-daughter Savanna Torres, and many more cousins and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Jake Fuentes, Christian Brown, Nehemiah Hobby, Daniel Flores, Jacob Flores and Marcello Williams.
