Frances Ratliff, 90, of Rosedale Street, Carlsbad, NM passed away on May 15, 2014 at her home. Cremation has been taken place and Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 10:00 am, Monday, June 30, 2014. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Frances was born on December 3, 1923 in Ola'a, Hawaii since renamed Keaau to Edon and Virginia Basque. She was the last of 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Frances married Carl Ratliff in Hawaii in 1944 moved to McAllister, Oklahoma then to Carlsbad. She had a full life riding motorcycles with Carl and raising 4 children and enjoying her grandchildren. Frances was a devoted friend and was loved by all who met her. She held many positions as a Doe with the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1558 and Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. Frances worked many years for Carlsbad Municipal Schools in the snack room.
She was preceded in death by husband, Carl Ratliff, Sr. and grandson, Clint Ingram.
Survivors are her children: Carl "Jim" Ratliff and wife, Elizabeth, of Albuquerque, NM, Ginger Vaughn of Albuquerque, NM, Cheryl Ratliff of Carlsbad, NM and Michael Ratliff of Carlsbad, NM; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
