Frances D. Smith

Frances D. Smith, 88, former resident of Carlsbad, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010 in Bryan, Texas. There will be no visitation. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Thursday, December 23, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery (old section) with Rev. Dan Boyd officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Frances D. Smith was born on April 22, 1922 in Arkansas to Mannon and Betty Duren. She married J.B. "Jake" Smith in Dallas on Sept 2, 1948. In 1949 the couple moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, living there for more than fifty years. Frances moved to Bryan, Texas in 2004 in order to be closer to family. She was preceeded in death by her husband, J.B. Smith in 2002. She is survived by her daughter Debra Maeger and husband Van of Bryan, Texas; grandsons, Stuart Maeger and wife, Kate of Orlando, Florida and William Maeger and wife Abby of Dickinson, Texas as well as great grandchildren: Emily, Sean and Hailey. She is the beloved sister of Jo Gullia of Fort Myers, Florida. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the tender loving care provided by the staff at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan, Texas.
