Florence Goodrich, 87, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away April 23, 2010 at Landsun Home.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, April 30, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Landsun Homes Otto Chapel with Chaplain Larry Krueger officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Florence Goodrich was born February 18, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to George Robert and May (Alexander) Barr. She graduated from Sullivan High School in Chicago. Florence attended North Park Junior College in Chicago and Syracuse University in New York. She served her country in the US Navy during WWII where she was an Air Traffic Controller. After her honorable discharge, Florence, moved to Boulder to attend the University of Colorado. She met Charles Goodrich there in Boulder and they were married on August 27, 1947 in Denver. Florence and Charles lived in California, Alabama, Texas and New Mexico. They moved to Carlsbad in 1996. Music was always a big part of her life. Florence sang with the L. A. Guild Opera, Santa Monica Light Opera and was in several musicals on Broadway just to name a few. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles Caldwell Goodrich.
She is survived by her son, Richard Charles Goodrich and wife, Ann of Pennsylvania; two daughters: Deborah Mayes and husband, John of Texas and "Jean" Goodrich of Washington; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
