Ferne Vaught, 96, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away February 8, 2014 at Lakeview Christian Home.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, February 14, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service is scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2014, 10:30 AM, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Darwin Warner officiating.
A Memorial Service will be held, 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Church Street Church of the Nazarene, 2315 West Church Street.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ferne Vaught was born October 16, 1917 in Campo, Colorado to Guy and Ruby Winnie (Davis) Brock. She graduated from high school in Erick, Oklahoma and received a B.S. in education in Oklahoma as well. Ferne married Truman Vaught on June 11, 1943. They moved to Carlsbad in 1944 where Ferne taught 8 years in Loving and 27 years at Joe Stanley Elementary retiring in 1979. She enjoyed children, reading and writing poetry. She was a founding member of Church Street Church of the Nazarene where she continuously poured her heart into the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Monroe Vaught; father, Guy Brock; mother, Ruby Winnie Davis; brother Guy Brock, Jr. and one nephew.
Survivors are brother, Elvis Duayne Brock of Merced, California and four nephews and six nieces.
