Felipe O. Ramos

Felipe O. Ramos, 68, of West Hagerman Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 22, 2009 at Lubbock Heart Hospital. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2009, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial of Christian Mass is scheduled for Friday, Sejptember 25, 2009, 9:30 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Felipe O. Ramos was born May 12, 1941 in Ojinaga, Mexico to Gabino Estrada and Francisca A. (Ortega) Ramos. He moved to Otis as a child with his family. Felipe married Paula Navarette November 7, 1967 in Carlsbad. He was a farmer in the early years. Felipe also worked as a truck driver. He then went to work for the City of Carlsbad where he worked 18 years. Felipe was a member of the Holy Name Society at San Jose Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and traveling, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Paula N. Ramos; son, Rojelio Ramos and sister, Felicita Morales. He is survived by his wife, Katie Dominguez, of Carlsbad, NM; son, Rene Ramos, Sr. of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Rosalinda Ramos of Carlsbad, NM; seven grandchildren: Bianca Olivo, Cassandra Grado, Milagro Grado, Paul Acosta, Justin Ramos, Roy Ramos, Rene Ramos, Jr.; two sisters: Escolastica R. Fierro of Carlsbad, NM Maria Luisa Ramos of Carlsbad, NM. Pallbearers will be Mark Walterscheid, Able Rodriguez, Joe Jordan, Manuel Anaya, Harvey Chavez, Robert Echavarria.
