Fay G. Martinez

Fay G. Martinez, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, entered rest on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the age of 89. She was born on August 14, 1921 in Valentine, TX. She married Antonio Martinez on March 6, 1937 in Ft. Davis, TX. Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio D. Martinez; son, John R. Martinez and grandson, Orlando Fierro. She is survived by her daughter, Amelia Fierro of Carlsbad, NM; adopted sons: Tony Martinez of Lubbock, TX, Joe Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; adopted daughters: Concha Sillas and Elvira Sillas both of Carlsbad, NM; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous foster children and foster grandchildren; 5 sisters, 4 brothers, nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was a long time member of Fox & Lake Church of Christ. She was best known for her knowledge of the Bible, wise counsel and homemade cooking. She practiced hospitality with great joy and served others with kindness and compassion. Pallbearers will be Richard Fierro, John Martinez, Rudy Fierro, Joe Martinez, Tony Martinez, Ricky Baca and Louis Fierro. Honorary pallbearers will be Fay's granddaughters. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, May 20, 2011 at Fox and Lake Church of Christ with David Padilla officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
