Ethel Wilson Schierholt

Ethel Wilson Schierholt, 87, of W. Pierce St., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 1, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 4, 2010, 10:30 AM, at Blodgett St. Baptist Church, 1500 W. Blodgett St. with Pastor David Prell officiating. Interment will follow in Natchez City Cemetery, Natchez, MS. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ethel Wilson Schierholt was born July 27, 1922 in Eddiston, Mississippi to Elmer Henry and Lucy (Bowman) Wilson. She started school in Eddiston and finished in Meadville, MS. Ethel married Ancel Benjamin Wilson, July 13, 1942 and they were married 49 years. She was always involved in her church where she taught Sunday school and served on mission boards. Ethel moved to Carlsbad in 1991 and married Willis John Schierholt, September 21, 1995 here in Carlsbad. Willis and Ethel enjoyed their second home in Timberon. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing the guitar and singing. Ethel was a member of Blodgett St. Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ancel Benjamin Wilson and sister Bell Wilson. Survivors include: husband: Willis J. Schierholt of Carlsbad; daughter: Mary Ann Fincher and husband, William of Carlsbad, NM; son: Dr. Bill Wilson and wife Dr. Ann Wilson of Nacogdoches, TX; six grandchildren: Kim Lucky and husband, Virgil, Kerri Christensen and husband, Sam, Marvin Fincher and wife, Lorena, Brian Wilson and wife, Amy, Bruce Wilson and wife, Charise and Kevin Phillips and wife, Jennifer; seven great grandchildren; sisters: Louise Ward of Ridgecrest, LA and Bertie Matthews of Shreveport, LA; Stepsons: Lavoy Schierholt and wife, Tammy of Carlsbad, NM, Gerald Schierholt and wife, Barbara of Weed, NM and Glenn Schierholt and wife, Lori of Carson City, NV.
