Esperanza Carrasco Calderon, 84, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center. There will be no public visitation. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2013, 1:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Esperanza Carrasco Calderon was born December 18, 1928 in Loving, NM to Presiliano and Porfiria (Franco) Carrasco. A lifelong resident of the Carlsbad area, she married Epifanio L. Calderon on November 18, 1945. She was a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Malaga. Esperanza enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and gardening. She loved her family dearly and loved to take care of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Epifanio L. Calderon,Sr.; son, Epifanio Calderon, Jr. and daughter, Elvira Calderon. Survivors are three daughters: Erma Turner and husband, Bob, Estela Osborne and husband, Robert all of Carlsbad, NM, Elva Fuentes and husband, Ricky of Loving, NM; daughter-in-law: Linda Calderon of New Castle, Virginia; grandchildren: Eppie Calderon, III and Lisa of Hobbs, NM, Jerry Calderon and Rocky of Portland, OR, Adrienne Calderon and Aleda of Seattle, WA, Rick Fuentes, Jr. and Veronica of Loving, NM, Debbie Fuentes and Sylvester of Kent, WA, Denise Vannatter and Todd of Carlsbad, NM, Kevin Osborne and Kelly of Hemet, CA, Heather Walker and Jeff of Willits, CA and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Bob Turner, Ricky Fuentes, Robert Osborne, Eppie Calderon, III, Rick Fuentes, Jr. and Jerry Calderon. Honorary pallbearers are Adrienne Calderon, Debbie Fuentes, Denise Vannatter, Heather Walker and Kevin Osborne.
