Ervin was born September 8, 1925 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Noel Harrison Galloway and Clalia Wiseman Galloway. He had 4 brothers and 1 sister. Ervin moved to Carlsbad when he was 2 years old. His father purchased 17 acres on the north side of Dark Canyon where La Tienda is now located and established an auto wrecking company that was washed away during the floods of 1941-42. Ervin married his childhood sweetheart, Georgia Fay Cooper on January 9, 1943. His favorite story was telling how he pulled her in a little red wagon when she was 8 years old and told her he was going to marry her. When 15, he asked her dad and he made them wait until her 16th birthday before marrying. During World War II, Ervin was stationed at Sheppard Field Army Air Corp., Wichita Falls, Texas, working in personnel. Ervin worked as a jack of all trades in construction, potash mines, Sheriffs Dept, auto dealers and owner of several small businesses including Galloway Auto Wrecking Co. After marrying, he built every Carlsbad home he lived in. He was a lifelong member of First Assembly of God and served in many areas including deacon for several years. Over the years he was a member of several other organizations including the Eddy County Sheriffs Posse. He loved music and played an accordion, piano and organ. He never studied music, but played by ear. Ervin was preceded in death by his wife, Fay, parents, and brothers: Paul, Herman, John, Claude and his sister, Mildred. Fay passed away 9 days prior to their 75th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his only child, Ervin Ray Galloway (Beth Cassels Galloway) of Carlsbad, NM. Ervin had two grandchildren: Robert Ervin Reggie Galloway (Rhonda Baker Galloway) of Forney, Texas and Cynthia Renee Cindy Galloway Fogerson (Paul Fogerson) of Clovis, NM. He had seven great-grandchildren: Cherise Brown Fontanez (Josh), Channing Brown, Katelyn Galloway, Samuel Galloway, Meagan Galloway, Ben and Savannah Fogerson. Also, special mention is nephew, Johnny Hicks (Catherine) of Carlsbad and other numerous nieces and nephews.
