Ersa Mae Tidwell

Ersa Mae Tidwell, 93, of W. Cherry Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 29, 2016, 11:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Alan Kilgore and Kevin Pence officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ersa Mae Tidwell was born May 28, 1923 in Otis, NM to William Lewis and Ola Frances (Harkness) Roberts. She attended elementary school in Hagerman, then moving to Carlsbad at age 13, she attended high school in Carlsbad. In 1941, she married Robert Tidwell, raising 3 children. Ersa enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and fishing with her husband. She occasionally worked at Collin Gerrells as a sales clerk. Ersa was a member of First Baptist Church, Ladies Bridge Group and VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Tidwell; sisters: Wilola Harris and Lois Rupe; grandson, Kelly Tidwell. Survivors are her son, Terry Tidwell of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Carolyn Jean Nebel and husband, Bob of Corinth, Texas, Debbie Lynn and husband, Clyde of Lubbock, Texas; 6 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Craig Renfroe, Brent Renfroe, Terry Tidwell, Clyde Lynn, Donnie Rupe and Richard Harris Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
