Ernest E. White

Obituary Ernest E. White aka "Butch", "Ernie", "Gene", and "Pop" was born January 21, 1941 to Ernie H. and Hulda E. (Cobb) White in Carlsbad, New Mexico. While he was still in the nursery after birth an uncle looked at him and said "He is a Butch isn't he." And the name followed him through his entire life. There may even be some family members that don't know what his real name is. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in May of 1959 and married the love of his life Marion M. Brookover in June of 1959. He served in the US Army then returned to Carlsbad. He spent his life in law enforcement in one way or another. He worked as a police officer, a sheriff deputy and then as a security guard. When his youngest child was very young he came very close to death and Ernie left his babies room, stepped outside and "made a deal" with God vowing if He allowed the baby to live that Ernie would spend the rest of his life serving Him. Walking back into the hospital, his baby was up and bouncing around, and Ernie spent the rest of his life serving Him in many different ways including evangelism and spending many years in prison ministries around the country. After retiring he began a small career as an author using the name Eugene L. Lawrence, having written several books and having 4 of them published. His attitude was not having written his books for profit, but to share the gospel with people. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivors are his son Jesse White of Carlsbad, NM, daughter Tami Tatro and husband Gordon of Colorado City, Texas, and son Hughlen White and wife Amy of Weatherford, Texas. He had 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren 1 Great-great grandchild. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for 2 PM, Saturday, October 26, 2019 at New Song Christian Fellowship with Pastor John Burke officiating.
