Ermelinda Quintela Garcia

Ermelinda Quintela Garcia, 63, of Picacho Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Landsun Health Services Center. There will be no visitaiton, cremation has taken place. A Vigil is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2014, 4:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2014, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Agnel Anthony officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ermelinda Quintela Garcia was born February 22, 1951 in Carlsbad, NM to Luis Chavez and Juana Duran (Quintela) Garcia. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1971. Ermelinda became a respitory therapist and worked in the local hospitals and nursing home for 14 years. She enjoyed fishing, hiking, bike riding and being in the outdoors. She loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Luis Chavez Garcia; mother, Juana Quintela Garcia Martinez; brother, Rogelio Garcia and sister-in-law, Martha Garcia. Survivors are brothers: Louis Garcia and wife, Belia of Carlsbad, NM, Felipe Garcia of Carlsbad, NM, Ben Garcia and wife, Gloria of Carlsbad, NM, Randy Garcia and wife, Sarah of Omaha, NE; sisters: Lorina Cruz-Solano and husband, John of Temple, TX, Teresa Garcia of Carlsbad, NM, Angelina Mitchele Martinez of San Antonio, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
