Enrique "Hank City" O. Fuentes

Obituary Enrique Hank City O. Fuentes, 66, of S. 5th Street, Loving, NM, answered the Good Lords calling on January 2, 2021 at UMC Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Born December 23, 1954 at St. Francis Hospital in Carlsbad, NM, Enrique enjoyed the outdoors and hunting at an early age. At Carlsbad Mid High and Senior High Schools, Enriques greatest accomplishment was being one of the leading Executive Officers in the Army Junior ROTC Program, which led to early delay-entry enlistment into Active-Duty Service in the United States Army. Unfortunately, due to an automobile accident during his High School Senior Year, Enrique was left as a quadriplegic with limited upper body movement, thus being administratively discharged from the U.S. Army. Nevertheless, as an astute and determined intellect, Enrique became a 1992 graduate from the University of New Mexico, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and acquired an FCC Radio Telephone Operators License. Enrique was an avid music listener, chess player and operated his specially equipped Black Widow Van on which many friends accompanied him on the long country road cruises listening to his latest and greatest music recordings. One of his unfinished lifetime goals was the construction and operation of a radio station serving the southeastern New Mexico area. Enriques passing has left a big void in the hearts of those that he befriended and loved. Enrique was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law: Manuel D. Duran and Danny Lee Duran, Sr.; grandparents: Gregorio and Cleofas Fuentes and Espiridion and Simona Ornelas. Enrique was preceded in death, on the same day, by his mother, Ramona Ornelas Fuentes. Enrique is survived by his father, Antonio Contreras Fuentes, Sr.; brothers: Antonio O. Fuentez, Jr., Richard O. Fuentes, Sr. (Elva), Jose Luis Fuentes, Rolando O. Fuentez, Sr. (Mary), Gerardo O. Fuentez (Gordy), Leonard O. Fuentez (Priscilla); sisters: Carolina F. Duran, Gloria F. Duran (Paul), and Patricia O. Fuentez. Enrique is also survived by his long-time best friend, Rick Bokker; Goddaughter, Chyanne C. Fuentez and 3 generations of 76 nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, and there will be a joint private service for Enrique and his mother at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and burial at Loving Cemetery, with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Enrique "Hank City" O. Fuentes, please visit our floral store.
