Enedina "Nina" Lopez

Enedina “Nina” Lopez, age 71, resident of Carlsbad, passed away on October 29th, 2021 in Roswell, NM at Eastern New Mexico Hospital.

Nina was born in Carlsbad, NM on March 7th, 1950 to Pedro Lara and Emma Munoz Lara. She grew up and attended school in both Carlsbad, NM and San Fernando, CA. She graduated from San Fernando High School in 1969. She married Lorenzo “Calasso” Lopez, also of Carlsbad, April 8, 1972. She was a life long member of the San Jose Catholic Church, and even spent time as a member of the Catholic Daughters of San Jose Church. Nina was a loving stay at home mom and grandmother, always cooking a meal for all of the family to enjoy. She absolutely loved and cherished spending time with all of her grandchildren and her great-grandson.
She is survived by her daughters Tracey and Stacey Lopez, both of Carlsbad. Grandkids Mariah Arreola, Ronnie Wabbington Jr., Montel Wabbington, Lorenzo Lopez, Zariah Arreola, Santana Arreola, Zackariah Arreola, and great-grandson John Wells, all of Carlsbad. Her sister Flora Montano of Mesa, AZ, her brother Abel Lara of Lancaster, CA, and her best friend/sister in Christ Kris Martinez of Carlsbad.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters MaryLou Florez and Yolanda Lara, brother Pete Lara, and her grandson Brandon Wallen.

Cremation has taken place, and services for Nina will be on Friday, November 12, 2021, at San Jose Catholic Church. The Rosary will be at 9:30 AM and followed by the Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Carlsbad Cemetery (New Section) in Carlsbad, NM. A potluck meal will be served immediately following the burial at San Jose Parish Hall. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
