A funeral for Enedina L. Castaneda, 85, of Tucson, Arizona, will be held at 10 am Friday, April 8, 2016 at San Jose Catholic Church with Deacon Tony Dominguez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2016 at San Jose Catholic Church. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Castaneda passed away at home Friday, March 25, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born June 16, 1930 to Fernando and Merced Larez in Wichita Falls, Texas. As a child, they moved to Loving, New Mexico. She married Antonio "Tony" in 1947 in Carlsbad and remarried him on their 50th anniversary in 1997. During their marriage they moved to Arizona for 10 years and moved back to retire in Carlsbad in 1986. Enedina enjoyed playing tennis, music, and loved to dance. She was a devoted wife and mother to their 6 children, a son and 5 daughters, all born in Carlsbad, and life long members of San Jose Catholic Church. Enedina was preceded in death by her father, Fernando; mother, Merced Larez; husband, Tony and brother, Raymond "Bebe". She is survived by a son, Julius Castaneda of Carlsbad; 5 daughters: Dorinda Sanchez of Tucson, Arizona, Lizzie Acosta of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bernice Villa and husband, Valentine of Tucson, Arizona, Yvonne Kavathas and husband, John of Tucson, Arizona, Zelma Stanford and husband, Rob of Austin, Texas; two brothers: Rudy Larez of Maine, Bucho Larez and wife, Otilia of California; two sisters: Miranda Darcy and Olga Onsurez and husband, Chris of Loving, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Michael Sanchez, Eric Contreras, Sergio Villa, Saul Ray Larez, Trevor Stanford, John Kavathas and Valentine Villa. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
