Emma U. Carrasco

Emma U. Carrasco, 85, of Loving, NM passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in Las Cruces, NM. Emma was born on May 21, 1937, in Loving, NM.

Emma married Candelario A. Carrasco, Jr. on December 28, 1958, in Loving, NM. She was a member of the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Loving. Emma was deeply religious all of her life and prayed the rosary through her final days. The love and joy of her life was her family. She always made sure everyone was well fed! She loved to cook for her family. Her family will always miss her famous bean burritos! Emma was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, even helping raise her grandchildren. She truly enjoyed going to the casinos, horse races, and dining out to eat her favorite shrimp scampi at Cattle Baron! When she slowed down, she really enjoyed watching her Westerns on TV, especially her favorite Gunsmoke.

An Angel lived among us, a gift from God above. She showered us with kindness and shared with us her love. She cherished every moment with the man who was her life; walking hand in hand together, facing life with all its strife. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly, each one a different way, nestled close within her heart. Though, now, she’s far way, Emma has gone to live with Jesus. But, she’s here with us, today, smiling down on every one of us, and telling us she’s O.K.!

Emma was preceded in death by her father, Frank Urquidez, Sr.; mother, Rosa (Apodaca) Ortega; husband, Candelario Carrasco, Jr.; son, Mark Carrasco; and brother, Frank Urquidez, Jr.

Emma is survived by her three children: Crina C. Rios and husband, Norberto of Malaga, NM; Ruben Carrasco and wife, Beverly of Las Cruces, NM; and Candie Rodriguez and husband, Moses of Loving, NM; eight grandchildren: Eric Rios, Adam Rios, Mark Cody Carrasco, Jared Carrasco, Dominic Carrasco, Andrew Chavez, Adan Gabriel Carrillo, and Amber Carrillo; eight great grandchildren: Ryder, Emily, Jake, Alan, McKenzie, Mark, Lylah, and Dru; sister, Vi Teague and husband, Bill of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. The family will have private services, and interment will take place at the Loving Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
