Emily Florez Hepler

Emily Florez Hepler, of Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away in the loving presence of her family on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. She was 66 years old, born on July 29, 1957.

Emily was the daughter of Lupe Sotelo and Ermenia Trevino of who has preceded her in death. Emily attended and graduated High School at Carlsbad High School in 1975.

After high school, Emily went on to get her secretarial certificate from NMSU Carlsbad... She married the love of life Guy, who worked for the City of Carlsbad in 1986. They were married 37 years.  

Emily worked as the head administrative assistant for the assistant superintendent of Carlsbad Municipal School Administrative Office from 1980 to July 2015 when She retired after 35 years of service.

Emily was well-liked and had many friends throughout her career with the Carlsbad Municipal Schools. She was well-respected by her peers and very kind and loving to the students that she came into contact with. She loved her family and will be forever remembered for the thoughtful Hallmark cards she would write a kind and loving message on, and give, or mail to her family and friends, the “old fashioned way”.

Emily is survived by her beloved husband, Guy Hepler and her daughter Kimberly J. Longoria, her husband, A. Dominic Longoria and the joy of her life, her grandson A. Dominic Longoria II. She is also survived by her father, Lupe Sotello, her sisters, Wilma Duran, Elizabeth Orona, Carlo Trevino, Alex Trevino, Hazel Singsotck. and her special niece, Dana Rodriquez and family.

Emily is and will be greatly missed. We all love you Grandma Em!

A memorial celebration will be held at Denton Wood Funeral Home on August 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
