Elsie "Nani" McGinnis Groves

Elsie "Nani" McGinnis Groves, 75, of Soper Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at her home. There will be no visitation, cremation will take place. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, May 24, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Rev. David W. Rogers officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Elsie "Nani" McGinnis Groves was born February 24, 1938 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to John Robert and Grace Eleanor (Forehand) Smith. She was educated in the Carlsbad school system. Elsie worked as a seamstress for many years. She loved her family and the Dallas Cowboys. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and Nani to everyone else. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Bob McGinnis and Ken Groves; grandson, Steven McCrory; three sisters and two brothers. Survivors are son, Ken McGinnis and wife, Patti of LaLuz, NM; two daughters: Shari Cullum of Carlsbad, NM, Jenny King and husband, Russell of Carlsbad, NM; step-daughters: Tricia Livingston of Gainesville, TX, Pam Grissom and Marty of Gainesville, TX, Kenna Hildebrand of Gainesville, TX; step-son, Kenny Groves and wife, Dondee of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Shawn Coleman, Kent Hughes, Misty Hildebrand, Billy McCrory, Jr., Kevin Clark, Jeremy McCrory, Ashley Clark, Krysta Rathbun, Will Clark, Christy Morillo, Stephanie King, Keila King, Megan Hunt, Tanner Grissom, Taylor Grissom, Devin Groves, Brenna Groves, Madison Asbury-Groves, Chanler Groves, Ryan McGinnis, Jessica Aguilar; 22 great-grandchildren two brothers: Harold Smith, Russell Smith; sister, Gracie Mathews; Charles and Margaret McGinnis, Jim and Linda Runkle and numerous nieces and nephews.
